An AI Management System (AIMS) is the framework an organisation uses to develop, deploy, and operate AI systems responsibly. ISO/IEC 42001 is the first certifiable management system standard dedicated to artificial intelligence.
An AIMS addresses risks that are specific to AI, including bias, transparency, human oversight, and the lifecycle of models and data. It complements regulatory requirements such as the EU AI Act by giving organisations a repeatable way to govern AI risk.
