Corrective Action
Action taken to eliminate the root cause of a nonconformity so that it does not happen again.
A corrective action goes beyond fixing the symptom. It investigates why a nonconformity occurred, addresses the root cause, and verifies that the change was effective. This separates it from a correction, which only repairs the immediate problem.
Management systems require corrective actions to be recorded with their cause analysis, the action taken, responsibilities, and evidence that the issue has not returned.
