Crisis Management

The capability to lead, decide, and communicate during a major disruptive event that exceeds normal response.

Crisis management is the higher-level discipline that takes over when an event is too severe or far-reaching for routine incident handling. It focuses on leadership, decision-making under uncertainty, stakeholder communication, and protecting people and reputation.

It works alongside business continuity: continuity plans restore operations while crisis management coordinates the overall response and external messaging.

Terms matter when they become defensible work.
