Disaster recovery is the set of capabilities and procedures for restoring IT services after an outage or disaster. It covers backups, failover, alternate sites, and the steps to bring systems and data back to a working state.
It is a subset of business continuity, which is broader and includes people, facilities, and processes. RTO and RPO are the key targets a disaster recovery solution must meet.
