Conformity Assessment

The process of demonstrating that a product or system, such as a high-risk AI system, meets the legal requirements before it is placed on the market.

Under the EU AI Act, providers of high-risk AI systems must carry out a conformity assessment to show the system meets requirements on risk management, data quality, documentation, transparency, and human oversight. Depending on the case it is done internally or with a notified body.

A successful assessment supports the declaration of conformity and CE marking, signaling the system may be sold in the EU.

Terms matter when they become defensible work.
